Ministry of Health and Social Security
The Ministry of Health and Social Security prepares and implements government policy in the areas of pubic health and the organisation of the healthcare system. It guarantees social security for citizens and responds to the risks and needs that arise throughout life in the areas of illness, old age, dependency, disability and occupational accidents.
The Ministry of Health and Social Security promotes health and disease prevention. It grants the licence to practise to healthcare providers and health establishments under its authority. Mutual insurance companies also fall within its remit.
